Product Description

What is it and what does it do?

Lymecycline is a drug taken in capsule form to help clear acne. It has an active ingredient that treats inflammation, infection, blackheads, and whiteheads caused by acne. It is a form of antibiotic and it is used to tackle acne caused by bacteria and other bacterial infections, from bronchitis to sexually transmitted infections, this medication can produce results within a few weeks.

It works by destroying the bacteria that cause acne (known as Propionebacterium acnes) and stops it multiplying, it does this by stopping it from making the protein they need to survive. Reducing the number of bacteria through this process helps to clear up the symptoms of acne.

Lymecycline is a member of the family of medicines known as tetracycline antibiotics.

How to take lymecycline:

Take the capsules with a glass of water. For acne the usual dose is one to be taken once a day at the same time, preferably in the morning. Contingent on the severity of your acne you may take this medication for 8 weeks. After 8 weeks, your doctor will check if your condition is improving and decide whether you should take lymecycline longer term.

Your GP will determine your dose based on the infection it is being used to treat, the dose may be increased for other infections. If you have not seen an improvement after 7 days, speak to your doctor.
