How Does Epiduo Gel Work?

Epiduo Gel contains two active ingredients, Benzoyl Peroxide and Adapalene, which both work in different ways when providing treatment to acne pimples. Benzoyl Peroxide can reduce the number of bacteria that cause acne and the skin will eventually dry and peel off.

Adapalene works differently. This active ingredient works by affecting the growth of cells and decreasing swelling and inflammation.

How Do I Use Epiduo Gel?

Apply a thin layer of Epiduo Gel once daily or as directed by your doctor. Apply a small amount to your fingertips and rub a small amount of medication to the affected area.

Epiduo Gel should only be used on your skin. Don’t apply to the area of the inner lip, inside the mouth or nose, or on mucous membranes. You should never apply Epiduo Gel to a cut, sunburn, scrape, or eczema-affected area of the skin.

If this medication is accidentally applied to the eyes, then you should flush your eyes immediately with water. See your doctor if you develop any irritation in the eyes. You should thoroughly wash your hands after applying the medication to avoid any of the gel accidentally entering your eyes.

You should use this medication regularly to get the most benefits possible from it. You should use Epiduo Gel at around the same time every day as this will help you remember to use the gel. Avoid using larger amounts or using the gel more frequently than recommended by your doctor. Your skin will not improve faster by using the gel more frequently. Using the gel more frequently will increase the risk of developing side effects such as pain, peeling and redness.

Inform your doctor if your symptoms and condition get worse or do not improve.

Like any other medicine, Epiduo Gel has some side effects, but not everybody will experience them.
